Background

It is the first health facility of the Uganda Orthodox Church.
The key figure of the blessed memory behind the construction, growth, and management of this hospital is the late Rev. Fr. Irineos Magimbi who was the longest-serving priest of St Nicholas cathedral parish (1960 to 1997), Fr. Ireneos secured funds from the Holy Cross Seminary in America to expand the infrastructure. Re-known doctors like Dr. Demetrios Dimopoulos; a Cypriot Visiting Physician, Dr. Elias Katumba, the Late Vice President Dr. Samson Kisekka, Dr. Dimitrios Mumbaale, and Dr. Olive Sentumbwe served as Medical Directors of this hospital. Dr. Olive Sentumbwe in the 1990s participated in securing funds from UNDP to start up the in-patient department including maternity services. In early 2000, Rev. Fr.
